If you plan to take the U.S. citizenship test provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and you are over 65 years of age, you may be eligible for citizenship test age exemption. If you are over 65 and have lived in the United States for more than 20 years, you may qualify for the 65/20 exemption. There are special considerations for applicants taking the citizenship civics test and filing their Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. This is according to the Immigration and Nationality Act.
These applicants qualify to take the civics test in the language of their choice. And are only required to study 20 of the 100 civics test questions for the naturalization test.
If you answer the citizenship test orally; you usually need to get at least 20 out of 128 questions right to pass. Civics test takers who are 65 or older and have been a permanent resident for at least 20 years at the time of filing for naturalization will only be asked 20 out of the potential 128 questions. And only need to get 6 of them right to pass.
If you are over 65 and qualify for the 65/20 exemption, you can study just the 20 questions marked with an asterisk (*) on the USCIS citizenship test study guide. You can find both questions and answers on the USCIS website https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/find-study-materials-and-resources/study-for-the-test and read through them as often as you need to memorize them.
You may also take the naturalization test in the language of your choice. If you have a physical or mental disability that affects your ability to take the test, you may be exempted from the Civics test.
