Immigrants Make the US a Better Place to Live: Poll

Immigration policy continues to be one of the key issues for both Republicans and Democrats, but the October 15, 2019, Democratic Presidential primary debate did not ask any questions on immigration, nor did any candidates discuss their position on immigration. During the presidential debates, immigration was identified as a key issue among voters for the 2020 elections.
People Voice Their Opinions on Immigrants
- 92% of Democrats and 60% of Republicans feel immigrants make the United States a better place to live
- 58% think immigrants are treated unfairly in the U.S.
- 72% don’t feel it is likely that they or a family member will missout on job or other opportunities due to the presence of immigrants
Generational and Political Differences
The poll reports identified generational and political view differences on how immigrants are treated. 66% of millennials believe that immigrants are unfairly treated, but among voters in the boomer and older generations over 54, only 49% agree, 34% disagreeing and 17% having no opinion.
With many immigration categories and different qualifications, it can be challenging to determine your immigration status. Because the process of applying for a visa is lengthy and complex, it can be equally difficult to determine the status of an immigrant application.
