New Book by President Bush Celebrates the American Immigrant | Immigration Attorney Mario A. Godoy | Godoy Law Office

New Book by President Bush Celebrates the American Immigrant

Former President George W. Bush is publishing a new book that celebrates the American immigrant. The book will be released in conjunction with an exhibition at the George W. Bush Presidential Center of portraits of immigrants the former president knows personally and their stories. The book will be released in March and includes the 43 portraits the 43rd president painted of immigrants he knows. Bush has long been an advocate of immigrants’ many contributions to America:

“At its core, immigration is a sign of a confident and successful nation. Immigrants’ talent and hard work and love of freedom have helped us become the leader of the world.”

Out Of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants

Bush’s goal is to demonstrate the value of American immigration and present immigration as a unifying, uplifting issue:

“While I recognize that immigration can be an emotional issue, I reject the premise that it is a partisan issue. It is perhaps the most American of issues, and it should be one that unites us. My hope is that this book will help focus our collective attention on the positive impacts that immigrants are making on our country.”

The book will “include bold, principle-based solutions that comprehensively address the current debate on immigration.” Bush will donate a portion of his Out Of Many, One proceeds to organizations that help immigrants resettle. He did not want the book to be released during the election season.

In 2007, then-President Bush pushed forward a comprehensive immigration reform bill, which narrowly missed passing.
