Welcome to the Immigration Minute with Godoy Law Office, where we give you the recent immigration updates in one minute.
This week we cover the H-1B registration period, an injunction pausing Biden’s 100-day removal freeze and the Secure Act.
On February 5th, USCIS announced that the initial registration period for the 2022 H-1B competitions opens on March 9th and closes on March 25th. The H-1B is a popular visa used by many U.S. employers, and there’s a cap of 65 000 regular H-1B visas. So get your initial registrations in so your application can be considered.
On February 8, a Texas federal court judge extended a temporary restraining order halting Biden’s 100-day removal
freeze. The lawsuit filed by Texas asserts that DHS overstepped its authority by ordering a freeze to deportations.
Also on February 8, a group of senators reintroduced the Secure Act. The proposed law provides a process for granting Green Cards to immigrants that have temporary protected status.
