Filing Tips For Financial Supporters For Ukrainians, Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on May 2 released a new document that provides filing tips for financial supporters after receiving many duplicate filings for Form I-134A, Online Request to be a Supporter and Declaration of Financial Support.

The tips are to address properly submitting Form I-134A and addressing any errors that are discovered after submission.

What Is Form I-134A?

USCIS Form I-134A is an online form used to request to be a sponsor and agree to be a financial supporter to a beneficiary and undergo background checks as part of Uniting for Ukraine or the Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans. You must file a separate Form I-134A for each beneficiary.

To file Form I-134A, you will need to provide the following information:

• Your name and contact information
• The beneficiary’s name and contact information
• The beneficiary’s relationship with you
• Your financial information, including your income, assets, and debts
• Your willingness to provide financial support to the beneficiary for the duration of their stay in the United States

Once you have filed Form I-134A, USCIS will review your application and determine whether you are eligible to be a financial supporter. If you are approved, you will be required to provide financial support to the beneficiary for the duration of their stay in the United States.

Here are some additional details about Form I-134A:

• Form I-134A is only available to sponsors who are in the United States.
• Beneficiaries of Form I-134A must be Ukrainian or their immediate family member as part of Uniting for Ukraine; or a Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, or Venezuelan or their immediate family member as part of the Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans.
• Beneficiaries of Form I-134A must be traveling to the United States in the care and legal custody of their parent or legal guardian and be able to provide documentation to confirm the relationship.
• Form I-134A must be filed online.
