Experience and Background
Elvis S. Villarroel was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and then immigrated to the United States as a child. Growing up in the Midwest surrounded by other immigrants, he became interested in immigration law and advocacy seeing as it affected his family, friends, and neighbors.
Beginning with volunteerism at an immigration clinic inside a church, Elvis first delved into immigration law right after high school. He attended Northwest State Community College while working full-time to fund his studies. He then transferred to The Ohio State University, where he majored in Political Science. Following a brief stint as a property claims adjuster, Elvis moved to Chicago and enrolled in law school. During law school, he held internships at TransUnion, The National Immigrant Justice Center, The Resurrection Project, and several immigration law firms. He focused on picking up skills relevant to defending immigrants in removal proceedings.
As a law student, Elvis was the President of Immigrant Rights’ Coalition, a student group at Loyola Law that advocated for the rights of immigrants. He also participated in a vis moot commercial arbitration debate team and Loyola’s International Law Review. Elvis graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in May 2025.
Since becoming a licensed attorney, Elvis has been serving clients at Godoy Law Office in Oak Brook, Illinois. His developing expertise lies in the intersection between immigration law and criminal defense. He represents clients before the Chicago Immigration Court, USCIS, and several county criminal courts.
Elvis is fluent in English and Spanish, resides in Chicago, and is dedicated to helping immigrants navigate the complex and ever-changing U.S. immigration system.
