WATCH: Immigration Attorney Mario Godoy Explains How to Apply for a Fiancée Visa
In this video, we’re going to explain the fiancée visa process. The U.S. fiancé visa process is one way to help your fiancée move to the U.S. and get a green card. A green card will give your fiancée the ability to live and work in the United States for the rest of their life. You start that process by submitting Form I – 129F and also proof of your relationship to USCIS. You must send documents and photos showing that you are eligible for the fiancée visa.
Once USCIS believes that you and your fiancée meet the visa requirements, it will approve your petition. It will send that petition from USCIS to the U.S. consulate office. Next, your approved petition arrives at that consulate. And then the consulate will contact your fiancée for any additional paperwork that has to be submitted.
It will also interview your fiancée and if everything goes well the consulate will issue a visa.
When your fiancée arrives in the U.S., you both have to be married within 90 days of that entry.
