Parole in Place

USCIS assists the immediate family members of US military personnel to become eligible to adjust status and become permanent residents of the United States. This includes the spouses, children and parents of military members.

Watch: Immigration Attorney Mario Godoy Discussed Parole in Place

Avoid a Lengthy Separation

Current immigration law says no one who came to the United States without inspection can adjust status unless some special rule applies. If adjustment is not an option, the family member must do consular processing. Parole in Place allows the family member to adjust status inside of the US, and avoid a lengthy separation that could harm the military member’s morale or ability to complete their services.

Required Documents

Parole in Place can be different from state to state and is available only to persons who are currently present in the United States. A Parole in Place request letter and supporting documentation must be prepared and submitted to USCIS, but it is discretionary and not automatically granted.

You should discuss the benefits and risks of requesting a Parole in Place with a qualified immigration attorney. Contact the immigration lawyers at Godoy Law Office for more information at 855.554.6369.
