Welcome to the Immigration Minute with Godoy Law Office, where we give you recent immigration updates in a minute. This week we will discuss Venezuelan TPS and elimination of the 2019 public charge rule.
USCIS announced it would immediately stop applying the 2019 Public Charge Final Rule to all pending applications and petitions that would have been subject to the rule. It is no longer accepting the I-944 form.
USCIS continues to apply the public charge inadmissibility statute but instead will use previous rules prior to the 2019 public charge rule. This will reopen the door for many immigrants.
This week Venezuela was designated for Temporary Protected Status. The initial registration period opened March 9 and runs through September 5th, 2021.
