Welcome to the Immigration Minute with Godoy Law Office, where we give you recent immigration updates in a minute. This week we cover 2 executive orders and the Dream Act of 2021.
On February 2nd, President Biden signed a new executive order, directing a top to bottom review of recent regulations, policies, and guidance created to stop legal immigration. There will be a review of the public charge rule and recent regulations aimed at preventing otherwise eligible immigrants from becoming green card holders.
On February 4th, President Biden issued a new executive order revoking recent immigration policies concerning refugees. The new goal being to increase admissions to 125,000 refugees during the first full year of the Biden administration.
On February 4th Senators Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham introduced the Dream Act of 2021. It would provide young immigrants brought to the US as children and that grew up in the US a path to a green card and eventual citizenship.
