In this video, we’re going to explain what to do if you are arrested.
Being arrested by a police officer can be both scary and very intimidating. You need to understand that once an officer arrests you, he or she has already decided that it is more probable than not that you are guilty of something illegal. So in other words, there is no way of talking your way out of that police station.
The best thing that you can do is remain silent, be respectful and exercise your rights.
You must tell the officer out loud that you will not answer any questions. That you will not speak to them without a lawyer.
Now at that point, you may have to wait to go to court for a bond hearing, and if you haven’t spoken to an attorney by the bond hearing then the judge will likely assign a public defender.
If you have been arrested or if you are under police investigation, we are here to help. We do police station visits during investigations and also after an arrest.
