The Illinois Secretary of State has announced new hours for Illinois Real ID applicants at Driver Services facilities in the Chicago area. The new hours take effect at multiple locations beginning Dec. 30, 2019, and continuing through Dec. 31, 2020. With less than 1 year left to obtain a Real ID and only a small percentage of new driver’s license issues, there is a high demand for easier access to obtain a new license.
Many US travelers use their driver’s license as their form of identification when they fly domestically without a passport. Starting October 1, 2020, travelers will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, US passport, US military ID to fly within the United States.
Non-citizen and undocumented immigrants may qualify for a driver’s license in Illinois. Illinois is one of 13 states that currently allow someone to get a driver’s license without a social security number.
