It’s important for you to know that as an immigrant and Green Card holder you may not vote in all elections. Any person that has voted in violation of Federal, State or local laws is deportable from the United States.
In order to vote in a federal election, you must be a United States citizen.
This is an area of concern because many immigrants are inadvertently registered to vote when they are updating or renewing his or her license. It is absolutely vital that you inform the Secretary of State of your immigrant status when renewing your driver’s license. If you receive a voting ballot card do not rush to vote without first speaking to an attorney.
