Tip: Send Separate Payments For Each Immigration Application

Tip: Send Separate Payments For Each Immigration Application

If you’re sending several immigration applications to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at once, it’s best to include a separate payment for each one. That way, if one application is rejected, it won’t hold up the others. USCIS policy is that if one payment is submitted and one of the forms is rejected, all the other forms will be rejected as well.

The USCIS website has guides for submitting immigration applications by mail.

  • Fill out the form carefully and completely:
If writing by hand, use black ink, and make sure your signature is there—they do not allow stamped signatures!
  • Get the latest version:
Download forms directly from the USCIS website to avoid outdated versions.
  • Print it correctly:
Print on single-sided, regular letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and ensure you include all pages – and from the same edition.
  • Keep it neat:
No correction fluid, highlighters, or staples – they can mess up the scanning process.
  • Pay the fee:
Double-check the amount needed for your application.
