Independence Day Citizenship Ceremonies 2023

USCIS celebrated Independence Day by welcoming over 5,500 #NewUSCitizens between June 30 and July 7 in more than 180 naturalization ceremonies across the United States. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has welcomed more than 588,000 new citizens so far this year and remains committed to promoting citizenship for everyone who is eligible.

Every year, USCIS celebrates July 4, the day the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776, declaring that the 13 American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation – the United States of America – to honor and recognize new citizens.
