Taste The Nation: Holiday Edition

Immigrant entrepreneur Padma Lakshmi has released a holiday version of her hit TV series, Taste the Nation, that travels to immigrant communities across America to showcase their food culture during the holiday season. Taste The Nation: Holiday Editions launched on Hulu November 4, and each of the 4 episodes will highlight unique traditions through the lens of different immigrant cultures and cities:

• Korean New Year in Los Angeles

• Noche Buena in Cuban Miami

• Hanukkah in Jewish America

•  the Indigenous side of Thanksgiving in Cape Cod, visiting the Mashpee Wampanoag nation

Lakshmi considers Taste The Nation as much a political show as a cooking show:

“It’s also an attempt to show the greater American public that immigration is not something to be feared, that it’s actually something to be celebrated. I think what bothers many people of color in the food industry is that we’ve been writing about this and we are experts on our own cuisine, but when a white person discovers curry or turmeric, then all of a sudden it’s the next best thing.

Taste the Nation: Holiday Edition is now streaming on Hulu.
