US Is Lifting Some Travel Restrictions In Early November

The United States announced on September 20 that it is lifting Covid-related travel restrictions for 33 countries in early November:

• will lift the ban on most travelers from 33 countries including the European Union, China, Iran, South Africa, Brazil and India

• travelers must show proof of being full vaccination

• people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine

• according to the CDC,  vaccines listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization, such as AstraZeneca and Oxford, will also be valid

• travelers must show proof of a negative coronavirus test

• airlines will be required to collect phone numbers and email addresses of travelers for a new contact-tracing system

• the new policy applies to everyone who is not a U.S. citizen

• the policy applies to all foreign nationals and long-term residents of the United States who are not American citizens will not be able to leave the country and then re-enter unless they are fully vaccinated

• children too young to be vaccinated are likely to be exempt but this policy has not yet been announced

• Canada and Mexico air travelers have the same requirements

• Canada and Mexico land traveler requirements have not yet been announced

• any updates for essential, water, study, medical care, economic or other traveler requirements have not yet been announced

When the newly eased travel restrictions go into place in November, there will still be some individuals who still cannot travel to the United States.
